Home Sweet Home Housing Assistance (HSHHA) is dedicated to empowering low-income families and individuals by facilitating access to affordable housing through the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support and advocacy to streamline the process of finding and securing suitable housing, promoting stability, and community integration.

Program Objectives

  1. Educate applicants about the Section 8 program, including rights, responsibilities, and the application process.
  2. Assist in the search for eligible housing options that meet the standards of quality and safety as prescribed by the HUD.
  3. Support applicants throughout the application and moving process, ensuring they meet deadlines and submit necessary documentation.
  4. Collaborate with local housing authorities, landlords, and community organizations to enhance the availability of suitable housing options.
  5. Advocate for policy changes that increase the efficiency and accessibility of the Section 8 program.

Services Provided

  • Housing Counseling: Offer workshops and one-on-one sessions to explain the intricacies of the Section 8 program.
  • Application Assistance: Help clients complete and submit their Section 8 housing applications and supporting documents.
  • Housing Search Assistance: Provide resources and support to help clients find housing that accepts Section 8 vouchers and meets their needs.
  • Follow-Up Services: Ensure clients successfully transition into their new homes and offer ongoing support to maintain their housing.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Income Level: Applicants must meet the federal income criteria as defined by HUD for the Section 8 program.
  • Residency: Priority may be given to residents of the community or county where the NPO operates.
  • Status: Applicants must qualify for the Section 8 program through their local housing authority.

Application Process

  1. Preliminary Assessment: Complete a preliminary screening form to determine eligibility for assistance from Home Sweet Home Housing Assistance (HSHHA).
  2. Documentation Submission: Submit necessary documents to our partnered property management or landlord, including income verification, ID, and previous rental history.
  3. Application Filing: Assistance in filing the Section 8 application with the local housing authority.
  4. Housing Search and Move-In: Once approved for a voucher, receive assistance in finding suitable housing and completing move-in requirements.
