Mission Statement
Home Sweet Home Housing Assistance (HSHHA) empowers low-income families and individuals by facilitating access to affordable housing through the various housing assistance programs with which we have networks and existing relationships, such as Hope Solutions, Bay Area Community Services (BACS), and CORE.
Program Objectives
- Educate applicants about existing housing assistance programs, including rights, responsibilities, and the application process.
- Assist in the search for eligible housing options that meet the standards of quality and safety as prescribed by the HUD.
- Support applicants throughout the application and moving process, ensuring they meet deadlines and submit necessary documentation.
- Collaborate with local housing authorities, landlords, and community organizations to enhance the availability of suitable housing options.
- Advocate for policy changes that increase the efficiency and accessibility of housing assistance programs.
Services Provided
- Housing Counseling: Offer workshops and one-on-one sessions to explain the intricacies of the available housing assistance programs.
- Application Assistance: Help clients complete and submit their housing assistance applications and supporting documents.
- Housing Search Assistance: We provide resources and support to help clients find housing that meets their needs.
- Follow-Up Services: Ensure clients successfully transition into their new homes and offer ongoing support to maintain their housing.
Eligibility Criteria
- Income Level: Generally, the family’s income may not exceed 50% of the median income for the county or metropolitan area where the family chooses to live.
- Residency: Priority may be given to residents of the community or county where the NPO operates.
- Status: Applicants must have social security.
Application Process
- Preliminary Assessment: Complete an initial screening form to determine eligibility for assistance from Home Sweet Home Housing Assistance (HSHHA).
- Documentation Submission: Submit necessary documents to our partnered property management or landlord, including income verification, ID, and previous rental history.
- Application Filing: Assistance applying with the local housing authority.
- Housing Search and Move-In: Once approved for a housing assistance program, receive assistance finding suitable housing and completing move-in requirements.
