We understand that a reliable transportation method provides upward economic mobility, enables low-income families to relocate, and expands their children’s opportunities for education and enrichment. Since the hit of the Covid-19 pandemic, low-income families are struggling to earn a living. Hop4Kids and A&K Supreme Auto strive to provide free cars or repair services to low-income families.
We are happy to announce that Marco is one of our candidates chosen to receive the free car from our program. Marco has been working in the bay area for years to support himself and his family. Before the pandemic hit, he heavily relied on public transit, borrowing cars, and asking for rides to work. Marco worried about spreading the disease to his household members during the pandemic if he got infected from public transportation. Therefore, he chose to ride a skateboard to work to avoid being in such a high exposure situation.
As time went on, he realized that commuting by skateboard is not a solution. After looking for an alternative, he found our Drive Forward Program through a referral of a friend. After going through the screening process, Marco was identified as one of the eligible candidates to receive a free car from our Drive Forward Program.
A&K Supreme Auto finally matched Marco with a used Mazda Miata. Marco is pleased to drive his first car to work without spending time on public transit and experience the cold in San Francisco. Moreover, access to a vehicle also enabled him to look for employment opportunities previously out of reach. A car gives him hopes and chances that he did not expect before owning his first car.
This work would not have been possible without the help and support of the staff at A&K Supreme Auto. In reality, many individuals and families like Marco need help to survive the pandemic. If you are interested in getting a free used car, please visit https://hop4kids.org/programs/drive-forward/.
